The University of Naples Frederick II (UNINA) was established in 1224 through an Imperial Charter of Frederick II Hohenstaufen, King of Sicily and Holy Roman Emperor. We are the first publicly funded university in Europe. Today, the University offers courses in all academic disciplines, leading to over one hundred and fifty-five postgraduate degrees. Research facilities provide support for all these courses. Students have the opportunity to develop intellectually and acquire professional skills.
The current number of enrolled students is close to 86,000 and the academic staff, at the moment, is 2532. Federico II University strives to consolidate and develop its role at international level and, to this end, gives the highest priority to fostering relationships both within Italy and globally. Our educational network is oriented towards the establishment of lifelong, high-level vocational training programmes, while maintaining excellence in all fields of education and research. Federico II University leads and partners in several projects from European programmes, from FP7/H2020 to Interreg, Espon Horizon and Erasmus+. As partners of the project "DUAL VET Partners in Europe", whose activities are still ongoing for 2019, aims to design a work-based learning system recommended by the European Commission.

It has developed extensive experience in managing research funding through more than twenty years in the successful submission or implementation of European projects, in a wide range of programmes. UNINA-LUPT holds MoU with many governmental and supranational organisations, such as UN Habitat (World Urban Forum 2012, AGGI Gender Unit), Government of Spain, Government of Egypt, for staff training activities, Italian Department of Civil Protection of the Government of Italy. UNINA-LUPT undertakes a number of key strands of activity: publications and resources, training, events and CPD (Continuing Professional Development), accreditation and consultancy, research and dissemination, international collaboration and activities which together encompass our work in relation to the development of innovative curricula and delivery models, resource creation, networking and teamwork, training and teaching support and research.
LUPT-UNINA merges professors from 11 departments of the University Federico II, bringing together more than 90 professors and researchers in humanities, sciences and technical disciplines. It also includes 12 technical and administrative staff and an average of 15 fixed-term employees (post-doc fellows, research fellows and consultants). LUPT academics have conducted PhD and other funded research on the above topics, organised international seminars and achieved international publications on their research results. UNINA-LUPT is also engaged in training activities, offering continuing professional development and vocational courses, also under international agreements.
